Become Like Jesus

For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. [Romans 8.29]

God chose us to become like His Son.

Stop and meditate on that!

To become like Jesus takes effort. That effort however, may indeed be the effort to exert no effort of our own! 

To become like Jesus is something we, more often than not, lose sight of. In our efforts to 'do ministry' we often fall victim to the fallacy that our ministry is "our ministry." Nothing in ministry matters more than that our lives and actions look like Jesus. No one needs to see or know my personality - they need to know Christ!

John the Baptist said it appropriately like this:

He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. [John 3.30]

Father, help me to become like Jesus.
