No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. [John 1.18]
As I stated in my post yesterday, we need to know God.
For all the descriptions and character revelations of God in the Old Testament, we have further clarification of Who God Is (if there remains any misunderstanding) in the person of Jesus the Messiah.
And, what's more, Jesus spoke quite clearly about His role in revealing God to us particularly as it related to the things He did:
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do. “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. [John 14.8-13]
The problem in the Church today is that we refuse to accept God's revelation of Himself just like the religious leaders and others rejected Jesus. They even went so far as to say Jesus cast out demons by the power of Satan!
There is no way the Church will ever fulfill its purpose on earth until it fully recognizes and embraces the life and ministry of Jesus.
How will we know when the Church fully recognizes and embraces the life and ministry of Jesus? The simple answer is this: it will be known that the Church fully recognizes and embraces Jesus' life and ministry when the Church lives the life and ministry of Jesus. In Jesus' own words, "anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done"
It's that simple.
Father, I want Jesus to be seen in my life because I know Jesus showed us You! Be glorified in me!
