God Doesn't Change

But LORD, you remain the same forever! Your throne continues from generation to generation. [Lamentations 5.19]

We would do well to commit this verse to memory and recall it often in the midst of our troubles.

Too often, in our trials and tribulations, instead of remaining steadfast in our understanding of God according to what He and His Word repeatedly declared of His goodness and faithfulness, we allow ourselves to question God's character, then to actually believe the inaccurate conclusions our questions draw. The reason we do this is because we proudly assume our own innocence. Denying our circumstance's obvious implications of sin, we listen to the whispers of our own deceptive hearts that say, "I am innocent - I have done no wrong." And then, based on false information from our heart, we draw incorrect conclusions about God and His character.

Father, forgive me for listening to my deceptive heart and thinking myself without guilt. In my troubles, may I be found humble and repentance always.
