National Injustice

Can unjust leaders claim that God is on their side—leaders whose decrees permit injustice? [Psalm 94.20]

Relative to my post from yesterday, it becomes quite clear that the nation that will experience God's joy cannot be a political nation whose leaders permit injustice.

Let us be clear that Jesus did not die for the United States of America! Nor did Jesus die for any other political nation. Jesus died for the nation whose God is the LORD. Jesus died for those who, in repentance and faith, turn to Him as the Way, the Truth, and the Life, apart from which no man can come to God.

This verse today makes it clear that the United States cannot claim God is on its side because its leadership permits what the Bible clearly defines as injustice. So long has the United States touted its "American Pride" that it has forgotten its Founding Fathers' understanding of governance by Almighty God (in His nation - "under God"). As the United States has matured chronologically, it has separated itself from the nation of God it claimed submission to in its beginning. Now, it is a nation that stands on its own, separate from God and His laws and will surely suffer the fate of all nations who have done so.

The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God. [Psalm 9.17]

The LORD is king forever and ever! The godless nations will vanish from the land. [Psalm 10.16]

See how these enemies insult you, LORD. A foolish nation has dishonored your name. [Psalm 74.18]

Pour out your wrath on the nations that refuse to acknowledge you— on kingdoms that do not call upon your name. [Psalm 79.6]

When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability. [Proverbs 28.2]

There is only one nation exempt from God's wrath - the nation whose God is the LORD. Citizen's of God's nation live in political nations all across the world. They will be spared from God's judgment just as Israel was delivered from Egypt - just as Lot was delivered from Sodom. The Bible is clear.

Father, I am overwhelmed with the sense of "nationality" today and the significance of being a citizen of Your nation while residing in a political earthly nation. May the reality of my nationality in You transcend my temporal nationality on earth. May You be justified in revealing who is Yours and who is not!
