Isaiah 13.11

“I, the LORD, will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their sin. I will crush the arrogance of the proud and humble the pride of the mighty. [Isaiah 13.11]

One doesn't have to be the "brightest bulb in the pack" to understand that they don't want to be found by God in evil, sin, arrogance, or pride.

And yet, these are the very things that every human being deals with on a daily basis. What are we to do? Simply this: repent.

A humble repentant attitude is the nearest thing I can see to one genuinely pleasing God. For the record, repentance and faith go hand in hand. The Bible is clear that only faith pleases God. But it is also clear that there is no forgiveness of sins except through repentance. Do you see how faith and repentance are interconnected? Neither give room for arrogance and pride either.

Father, may You find in me a broken heart and contrite spirit. May there be no pride or arrogance found operating in my life whatsoever. Forgive me for thinking I can do anything apart from You and Your Spirit residing in me.
