Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what he did for me. For I cried out to him for help, praising him as I spoke. If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the LORD would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me. [Psalm 66.16-20]
Repentance is indicated here as the one thing that opens communication with God.
If we do not repent, we can expect that God will not listen to us.
If God does not listen to us, there is no way He is forgiving us.
If we are not forgiven, well, there is no hope for any good thing in that condition.
Father, forgive me for forgetting the importance of repentance. You know my heart and its deceptive ways more so than I do. I have and can hope for nothing good without You.
