Pain and Suffering - What The Bible Says

Feel my pain and see my trouble. Forgive all my sins. [Psalm 25.18]

Pain and trouble are directly associated with sin.

I am not just dreaming this up. The Word of God is crystal clear on the matter right here in the Psalms and elsewhere in the Bible.

So, what should be our first response to pain and trouble? "God, please forgive me."

Yeah, we will win no popularity contests with this solution to pain and trouble, will we?

Why?

Because admitting sin, particularly if we don't think we've sinned, is an affront to human pride.

But what if we are sure we have not sinned? It is in that assurance that our pride is found. Why?

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? [Jeremiah 17:9]

We must not allow our hearts to deceivingly refute what God's Word truthfully reveals about our circumstances.

Do you believe your heart or the Bible?

Father in heaven, I want to trust Your Word as it speaks to my circumstances - particularly my pain and trouble. And, I want to humbly repent and believe in Jesus as a matter of moment by moment practice of submission to You and suppression of my lying heart.
