“When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there. [Deuteronomy 18.9]
God's people are to establish the standard for how to live based on God's established law.
A lot of people do a lot of things because they see others doing it. The Bible is very clear about holiness in God's people - it does not come from imitating the practices of those who are not God's.
The application of this today is straightforward. Although there are many cultures and practices embraced by people all over the planet, God is very specific about what determines the culture and practice of His own.
Question: Are we who call ourselves God's people following God or the world?
Father, help me to be faithful to You and Your ways, avoiding the ways of the world (regardless how popular they are).
