Saying Something Stupid

Why doesn’t the Almighty bring the wicked to judgment? Why must the godly wait for him in vain? [Job 24.1]

When we become distracted with God's dealings with other people, we have lost sight of what God desires for us.

Such was the case here with Job in his response to his friend Eliphaz's third discussion.

It is always too easy in our own trials to compare ourselves with others and instead of dealing with God on our own issues, question why He doesn't deal with others as He does with us. It is childish really.

There are some profound statements made by Job and by his friends. But there are also some profoundly unenlightened statements made as well. This story must be read with patience and discernment!

The more we talk, the more we risk saying something stupid.

Father, help me (us) to faithfully discern what is truth and what is emotion spoken by Job and his friends. And, help us not lose sight of the "bottom line" fact that Job would eventually be required by God to repent for his excessive rantings.
