You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’ It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me. You said, ‘Listen and I will speak! I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.’ I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.” [Job 42.3-6]
So, here is proof positive that Job repented. And why did Job repent? Because he had been proud and his mouth revealed it.
Repentance is a sweet thing. For Job it meant being not only wealth and family, but also having the peace of mind knowing that repentance restores.
May Job's story help us to review our own difficulties in life and instead of questioning or blaming God for them, take full responsibility for them ourselves, repent, and be restored.
Father, I am only more convinced that curses in my life are the result of sin. I am furthermore convinced that the sin of pride hides in the deepest crevices of my heart where neither I nor Satan himself can recognize it. But I know You see it - and I know You intend to help me be delivered of it. Forgive me for my arrogance and spiritual haughtiness. Forgive me for not trusting You and You alone for every facet of my life. Thank You for Job's story.
