Where's Our Priority?

But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. [Jude 20-21]

To keep ourselves safe in God's love, we must build each other up in our most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus.

How straightforward could that instruction be?

How are we doing with this instruction?

I am convinced that as we navigate our lives to focus on these things we are instructed to do, we will see greater and greater mercy upon our lives.

It is no mistake that the first thing John records is that we must be other-minded. We must first look out for the well-being of others, and, this is contrary to all our current society's reasoning.

The second thing, still is not entirely self-focused either, to pray in the power of the Holy Spirit. If we are praying according to the Bible, we are still other-minded (focused on others).

Lastly, and still yet not self-focused, we are instructed to wait for mercy. To wait, not to go get it.

Interesting, huh?

Father, help us to get our priority off ourselves.
