What's The Worst?

In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. [2 Corinthians 1.9-10]

According to Paul, it was when he fully expected he would be killed that he learned to genuinely rely on God.

The problem with our modern (and particularly Western) Church culture is that we face so little resistance that our faith in God is atrophied.

It was Paul's difficulties (for the Message he preached) that led to the power of God being experienced and seen in his life. Both he and those who witnessed this power were strengthened in the Lord.

So, if we are going to learn from Paul's example, we should embrace our challenges as nothing more than opportunities for God to show Himself strong on our behalf.

What's the worst that can happen? Death? No, death is a promotion for Christ followers!

Father, help me to see my difficulties as opportunities to see You and Your glory upon, in , and through my life!
