Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. Later Simon and the others went out to find him. When they found him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you.” But Jesus replied, “We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came.” So he traveled throughout the region of Galilee, preaching in the synagogues and casting out demons. [Mark 1.35-39]
If we are to live like Jesus in the earth today, then we are to pray like Jesus in the earth today.
This scripture reveals much about the devotional life of Jesus.
- It reveals that Jesus prayed before the beginning of the day
- It reveals that Jesus isolated Himself to pray
- It reveals that, in that time and place of prayer, Jesus received direction for ministry
- It reveals that miracles were the result of that time and place of prayer
We are to live like Jesus. Just to be sure I am not making this up...
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. [John 14.12]
Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. [John 17.18]
So, yes, if we are to live like Jesus in the earth today, then we are to pray like Jesus in the earth today.
Father, forgive me for ever thinking I could minister like Jesus without the devotional foundation Jesus demonstrated.
