He asked me, “Have you been watching, son of man?” Then he led me back along the riverbank. [Ezekiel 47.6]
What preceded this question was a series of circumstances in progression.
It would seem that Ezekiel was so absorbed in the depth of the river that he had failed to see the trees growing on both sides. Ezekiel had failed to see that life was in the water.
That's the way it is with everything God does - there is life in it - if only we will see it. But, to see it, we must be watching for it! To be watching for it, we must not be "locked in" with our focus - we must be observant and understanding to all that is taking place.
Does that not sound very important in our present circumstances?
There is lot taking place right now - a lot that could be entirely distracting - but God's people need to be watching! There is life in what God is doing!
Father, give me eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to understand! Help me to be in tune with what You are doing in this time - help me to be in tune with Your life-giving plan through all that is going on in the world today!
