But now I see that the prophets of Jerusalem are even worse! They commit adultery and love dishonesty. They encourage those who are doing evil so that no one turns away from their sins. These prophets are as wicked as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were.” [Jeremiah 23.14]
False prophets were a real problem in Jeremiah's day.
False prophets are a real problem TODAY!
How does on spot a false prophet? Simple: they encourage those who are doing evil instead of instructing them to repent.
Is this not exactly what is happening all across America today? Leaders are preaching messages of comfort and hope, messages of encouragement, and messages of faith that "we will get through this" to people of a country that is responsible for the murder of millions of innocent babies and that promotes and celebrates perverted sexual lifestyles strictly forbidden by God. Encouragement is given to people who are addicted to alcohol, drugs, pornography, entertainment and information. They are being taught to first take care of themselves. Self-help has now become outright self-infatuation and has heavily infiltrated the Church.
Where is the repentance?
I agree that people today need encouragement - they need encouragement to REPENT!
When people repent, God will take care of the rest of the encouragement.
Father, open the eyes of our spiritual leaders. Show them that repentance is and always has been Your message when times are chaotic like they are today. Give them the grace to preach and teach repentance and to trust You to bring the encouragement.
