Love and Justice

“This is what the LORD says: Just as I have brought all these calamities on them, so I will do all the good I have promised them. [Jeremiah 32.42]

A good father both disciplines and provides for his children.

So it is with God. "All the good" is God's provision. "All these calamities" is God's justice.

Provision is born of God's love. Discipline is born of God's justice. However God's justice is ultimately resultant also to His love.

The Grace of God does not simply do away with God's justice. There remains a required "obedience" that predicates Grace. It is the obedience of faith.

Interestingly enough, there is a prerequisite to the obedience of faith as well: repentance. In other words, there is no possible way that faith can receive salvation without repentance.

It is a perfect system that God has set up. There is no inconsistency with God. Problems only arise when man tries to explain God's love and justice outside the parameters of the Bible.

Father, help us to take the Bible for what it says about You and Your love and justice.
