The LORD cares deeply when his loved ones die. [Psalm 116.15]
Who are God's "loved ones?"
Now that's a good question, right? Who says who is a loved one of God?
Is it my place to say I am a loved one of God? Is it your place to say I am a loved on of God?
Who said Jesus was loved by God? Well, God said it for starters...
And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” [Matthew 3.17]
But Jesus also declared that God loved Him:
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. [John 15.9-10]
How did Jesus know God loved Him? Because He obeyed God's commandments.
What?
Yes, it is true, Jesus indicated that He had confidence in God's love because He obeyed God.
So, how about us? Does our obedience to God (or to Jesus for that matter) assure us that we are loved by God (or Jesus)?
Who are God's loved ones? Those who obey.
Who are Jesus' loved ones? Those who obey.
Wow, ...something to think about!
Father, I want to be found in obedience. Jesus was very clear what my life would be like if I obeyed. Forgive me for not looking and acting like Jesus!
