What can we bring to the LORD? Should we bring him burnt offerings? Should we bow before God Most High with offerings of yearling calves? Should we offer him thousands of rams and ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Should we sacrifice our firstborn children to pay for our sins? No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. [Micah 6.6-8]
Do what is right. Love mercy. Walk humbly with God.
If we intend to be obedient to God, these three good things are required. Do what is right. Love mercy. Walk humbly with God.
The Age of Grace does not change these requirements. Jesus never instructed anyone to do what is wrong, forsake mercy, or proudly ignore God! In fact, Jesus 'fleshed out' what righteousness, mercy, and humility looks like.
When Jesus healed the sick, raised the dead turned water into wine, fed thousands with practically nothing, walked on water, and calmed the storm. He was doing what was right!
Why do you think all the outcasts flocked to Jesus? He showed mercy!
With all His power, why did Jesus not occupy a throne on earth? Because He walked humbly with God!
Jesus was and is our example of how to live on earth. We are to do what is right, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. The entire New Testament and particularly the Gospels support this.
Father, forgive me for not doing what is right, not loving mercy, and not walking humbly with You.
