Earthquakes and Turmoil

God says, “At the time I have planned, I will bring justice against the wicked. When the earth quakes and its people live in turmoil, I am the one who keeps its foundations firm. [Psalm 75.2-3]

Justice against the wicked... What does that look like? It would seem it might have some correlation with the earth quaking and its people living in turmoil.

Earthquakes are just totally out of human control, aren't they? And turmoil can come from many different sources, but it feels the same regardless.

What does it mean however that in the midst of earthquakes and turmoil that "God is the One Who keeps its foundations firm?" I believe it means He is in control. Anything He can shake, He can secure. Anything He can disrupt, He can settle.

At different times in history, man has witnessed uncontrollable events - some of them quite horrific. And, although mankind ha some idea that it can control a lot, I believe, at the end of the day, God will show Who is in control and who is not.

How painful will that be? As painful as it needs to be to bring repentance ...or complete annihilation.

I'm sorry, but I am not seeing what would seem the right response to our current global pandemic. From a Biblical perspective, it would make sense that we repent in large scale! But alas... scientific minds are busy at work and religious minds are encouraging them on while few are repenting...

Oh, it may seem that valid solutions are in the works. Man may think he is getting control of his situation... But at some point, God will prove otherwise!

How much worse do we want to see it get before we acknowledge it is all out of our control and we need help only God can provide?

Father, help us to have soft hearts toward You and Your Word! Forgive us for our insistence upon solving our own problems. Forgive us for excluding You.
