Out With The Bad - In With The Good

When the people return to their homeland, they will remove every trace of their vile images and detestable idols. And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God. But as for those who long for vile images and detestable idols, I will repay them fully for their sins. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!” [Ezekiel 11.18-21]

Notice here that the "good stuff" from God does not come until the people purge themselves of their idolatry.

So, as I am so inclined to do, let us reverse engineer this passage to bring clarity and further understand it.

IF we are experiencing "stony-stubborn-heart" syndrome, THEN we can conclude that we have not removed every idolatrous thing from our lives.

Father in heaven, forgive me for harboring idolatrous sin in my life. You do in fact know my every thought, so You do in fact know the idols I yet embrace... Pride, arrogance, self-sufficiency, lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and more... I want to remove every trace of these things from my life - I want my stony stubborn heart replaced with a tender responsive heart that I might live in righteousness and truth.
