God Keeps His Promises

He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. [Psalm 146.6]

The Bible is very clear that God keeps His promises.

So, why then do 'God's people' suffer so like everyone else in the world?

If indeed God is God (and He is), and, indeed God's promises are true (and they are), then, there can only be one practical answer as to why God's people suffer: they have not met the requirements of God's promises!

The promises of God are contingent upon two things: obedience and faith. These two things are really one, but for the sake of covering every possible situation, I have listed them as two.

To deny guilt in suffering is to render God's character as questionable. The Bible is clear that God is good and only does good. To say Holy God causes or allows suffering without just cause is blasphemous!

Father, I want to know You more and more. And, the more I know You, the more I see that You are good and only do good. The more I know You, the more I realize just how sick and twisted the human heart is who would dare accuse You of the injustice of causeless suffering. Forgive me for ever allowing myself to feel like a victim for any reason other than my own sin or the sin of my associations (family, church, city, county, state, or nation).
