Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the LORD tests the heart. [Proverbs 17.3]
The heart is deceitful and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17.9).
Numerous scripture references indicate that only God knows the human heart and its wickedness.
So, why then would God have to test the heart if He already knows how wicked it is?
The answer is simple: the test is not to inform God of the problem, but us. We are the ones who seem to 'not get it' regarding the condition of our hearts!
What does it mean for God to test our heart? It is a call to repentance. Every time. Without exception.
Father, thank You for revealing Your desire to reveal to me my need to repent and stay repentant (humble) before You. Please keep speaking to me.
