And David became more and more powerful, because the LORD God of Heaven’s Armies was with him. [2 Samuel 5.10]
I don't really know where people get the idea that God doesn't necessarily make His followers victorious.
Sure, people who are only partially committed to God don't generally succeed in all they do, however the Bible is quite and repeatedly clear that those who genuinely and wholeheartedly seek Him prosper and succeed in all they do.
I know it all sounds good to say that people will see our God in our lives by the peace we live by, but, that is not how people determined God was in people in most all the Bible! In most cases, it was determined that God was with people because they succeeded in all they put their hands to.
God blesses His own and withholds blessing from those who are not His (who do not serve and follow Him).
God is in control of everything. But modern thinking and science do not acknowledge this.
It only makes sense, that if people are to look at believers and determine that God is with them, it will be because there is contrast between the lives of believers and the lives of those who have nothing to do with God. As logical as this may seem, still people refuse to accept it (and the implications of it).
Israel was feared because God was with Israel. It was known that God was with Israel, not because they had peace in their hearts, but because the Red Sea parted for them, otherwise unexplained events surrounded their victories, they grossly succeeded in everything as long as they remained faithful to God...
Father, help me to have a right estimation of You and Your people!
