The LORD said to Gideon, “You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength. [Judges 7.2]
God has no intention of us ever thinking we can accomplish anything apart from His power.
Why?
Because we are humans susceptible to pride. Our deceptive hearts will lie to us convincing us that our victories are our own and not God's.
God wants to be victorious in our lives. But, He wants us to remain humbly mindful that He is our Strength and our Victory!
We must avoid all inclinations to ever think we possess anything in and of ourselves that could negate our need to our God. As in the case with Gideon, we may find that we have to purposefully remove anything that would distract us from seeing God as our everything.
All glory belongs to God. He will share it with us, but on His terms that it is His and His alone.
Father, help me to see and remove anything in my life that distracts me from seeing You as my All in All.
