I can only imagine that Peter's heart was crushed as he made the statement above.

However, unlike Judas, Peter would later find hope and forgiveness. What was the difference between the two?

Both Peter and Judas had "forsaken all" to follow Jesus. Both Peter and Judas were involved in ministry. Both Peter and Judas had heard Jesus' teaching and parables. Both Peter and Judas forsook Jesus.

I wonder what difference it made that Judas kept up with the ministry money?

Father, help me to see the dangers involved with money. Help me to remain forever mindful of the deception and treachery inspired throughout history by the love of money.
