Sorrow?

For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. [2 Corinthians 7.10]

So, do bad things happen to good people?

Maybe. But be sure of this: God wants right living in all. God's ultimate goal for everyone is to be saved.

God wants purity and holiness in our lives. The only suffering God endorses is that which is designed to bring this about!

God never endorses suffering just for the sake of suffering! And He certainly doen't endorse suffering just to prove He is God! He doesn't need or have to prove anything!

Sorrow and suffering have one purpose and one purpose alone: to bring people to repentance.

We have no business EVER stating that suffering and sorrow are meant for any other reason than to bring repentance. It is proud and arrogant to think, believe, or say anything otherwise!

We must re-think our religion and understand that suffering and sorrow are God's way of bringing us closer to (or back to) Him. Suffering and sorrow then require repentance.

Father, help me to have right thinking about suffering and sorrow!!!
