Mad Miracle

Jesus was still angry as he arrived at the tomb, a cave with a stone rolled across its entrance. [John 11.38]

And here is how the KJV reads:

Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. [John 11.38 KJV]

I just wanted to be sure of something about this passage... and that is that Jesus had some emotion attached to this event tied to the lack of faith He was seeing in those who, by Jesus' response, should have been exercising more faith.

We may have one of the clearest examples of God's desire for faith in His followers right here. Elsewhere, the Bible makes the statement that whatever is not of faith is sin. Here, Jesus scolded Mary and Martha about not believing.

It is not surprising that at first Jesus cried. Then, He became angry.

Jesus cried because people He had spent so much time with still didn't get it that life in the Kingdom transcends every natural law (including death). They had not 'gotten it' that Jesus walked before them the way they should walk.

But then, Jesus was angry because He could only be so in the presence of the sin of unbelief!

It was a learning opportunity for sure... Sadly, I am not sure if anyone in attendance got it though.

Father, I want to learn from Jesus' life and example on earth! I want to live and walk in faith!
