The people of Judah were exiled to Babylon because they were unfaithful to the LORD. [1 Chronicles 9.1b]
Now, remind me again why God's people were exiled to Babylon...
They were unfaithful to God.
God was not teaching His children an important life lesson. God was not, as a 'loving father,' using curses to teach and admonish His faithful children! No!
God's people were experiencing the fruit of their faithless ways. They were being punished. God did not want His people in Babylon - He wanted them in the Promised Land! But, because His children refused to obey, they willingly stepped into what they had been warned was coming if they insisted upon their unfaithfulness.
Modern Christians have done themselves a huge injustice in calling evil (in the form of curses) good. Much damage has been done in the Body of Christ by this false teaching. This kind of thinking, now largely ingrained in the Church (except for a few pockets of 'radicals'), is responsible for Christians everywhere "tying a knot in the end of their rope" so to speak, and holding on to their innocence when every circumstance (curse) says they need to repent! This false teaching has at its root pride - a refusal to repent.
Call me a radical - but I would rather repent and be wrong than not repent and be wrong!
Father, help me to live a repentant lifestyle. Bad things tell me I need to repent. Bad circumstances (curses) tell me I am out of Your blessing and therefore need to return to You!
