Repentance Is Essential For Forgiveness!

Perhaps the people of Judah will repent when they hear again all the terrible things I have planned for them. Then I will be able to forgive their sins and wrongdoings.” [Jeremiah 36.3]

Repentance is essential for forgiveness.

No amount of religion or religious activity replaces repentance.

Consider this:

Baruch did as Jeremiah told him and read these messages from the LORD to the people at the Temple. He did this on a day of sacred fasting held in late autumn, during the fifth year of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah. People from all over Judah had come to Jerusalem to attend the services at the Temple on that day. [Jeremiah 36.8-9]

In contemporary words, people were at church in great numbers! But as the rest of the story proves, they did not repent!

Going to church should not replace repentance on our lives! Going to church does nothing for us if we remain unrepentant!

Don't just go to church. Repent!

Wow.

Father, help me to make the most out of corporate gatherings of Your people - help me to start out by repenting!
