God Is No Idol

But the God of Israel is no idol! He is the Creator of everything that exists, including his people, his own special possession. The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is his name! [Jeremiah 51.19]

It seemed appropriate today to focus on Who God Is.

First, He is not an idol. Although many in this world discredit Him as a 'crutch' or imaginary mental relief, He is not.

He is the Creator of everything that exists. His relationship with Israel is and has been an ongoing record of His interaction with mankind since Creation.

Yahweh of Heaven's Armies is His name. He is not unknown. Whether or not man thinks he can explain away or educate himself past the notion of God, he cannot definitively know what follows the grave - only God delves into what occurs after death!

The prophecies of the Bible cannot be explained in human terms. There are simply too many of them, and certainly far too many of them already fulfilled to ignore 'another realm' deemed fictional by people only capable of knowing what they know.

No, God is no idol. He is real and He is Supreme. He deserves all glory and, whether mankind acknowledges Him or not, He will be honored for all eternity. The Bible says every knee will bow before Him - faithful and faithless alike - but not all will experience the same fate.

We have but a short window of time and space to honor Him ourselves. Life is short, but it is a gift - a gift given to us to either honor God or not - a gift given to us to determine our eternal outcome.

Father, I want to meditate on You today. My life and troubles are meaningless as I think about eternity and my responsibility on this earth to 'flesh out' my faith and trust in You.
