What Are We Trusting?

The poor, deluded fool feeds on ashes. He trusts something that can’t help him at all. Yet he cannot bring himself to ask, “Is this idol that I’m holding in my hand a lie?” [Isaiah 44.20]

What are we holding to that is a lie? What are we holding to that cannot help us at all?

I am afraid there are many things that answer this question. As a matter of fact, anything that I hold to for my existence, besides the LORD Most High God, is a lie.

Yesterday I observed some amazing medical equipment. I was awestruck at the technology.

However, as I read today OYCB reading, I realized that some of the very same materials used to make this 'amazing' equipment is also used for less glorious things. Have we ever taken the time to consider that the same stainless steel used in highly refined and advanced medical instruments is also used to make toilets?

Is my faith in advanced-technology equipment a lie?

In a word, yes.

We MUST avoid being bedazzled by 'advanced technology' to the point that we forget that it is not as glorious as we think it is, it is still mere rubbish when compared to God our Creator.

God alone is our Healer. God alone is our everything. There simply is no other.

Father, help me to see only You.
