But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. [Psalm 92.12-14]
So, do we have to grow old, weak, and die in suffering? Not according to the Bible.
This passage in the Psalms says that the godly will flourish, grow strong - even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green!
That just doesn't sound like what most people have accepted as the "way it is" in the earth today.
Most people today are just 'waiting' for a bad diagnosis from a doctor. Cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer, heart failure, COPD, Mesothelioma, and the list seems endless. These are all indeed real, but they ARE NOT FOR GOD'S CHILDREN! Every conceivable sickness and disease is a curse for disobedience to God. Every weakness is a punishment for sin.
We need a shift in our thinking as God's children! Our God is good - His faithful love endures forever! He is our everything - our Righteousness, our Healer, our Provider... how could we ever accept anything less than good in our lives? And, when we do experience anything less than good, how can we not see that it is a sin problem and needs repentance?
We just don't repent enough! How would we know for sure if the lack of repentance is not our problem if we have never given ourselves to a lifestyle of repentance? And, what's more, how can we ever say we have no need to repent? Really. Who can say, "I am clean"? Who can say, "I am sinless"?
The Bible is very clear that all have sinned. The Bible is very clear that there is none righteous. If the Bible is so clear about this, why aren't we repenting more? Because we are proud and blind. We have believed a lie that we are okay. We are NOT okay - we need salvation every day - we need to repent.
Please do not misinterpret what I am saying. I am NOT saying we are condemned! Our repentance is our freedom because our repentance avails all of God's goodness and mercy upon us. There is no hope in condemnation but repentance is all about hope for forgiveness and liberty! Yes!
Father, once again today, I see the need for repentance. I see the need in my life to make a habit of repentance because the habit of repentance brings me into godly standing with You. The aches and pains I feel - the troubles I experience - are proof-positive of my ongoing need to repent. Father, forgive me for my pride and arrogance - forgive me for my blindness to my need to repent and live repentant. I confess my sin upon Jesus and believe He paid the price for my sin! Thank You.
