Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. [Proverbs 31.10]
I can. I did.
My wife is the single most important blessing from God in my life. No, she is not perfect, but she's close! I see more of the qualities listed in Proverbs 31 in my wife than I do most women. She is indeed precious to me.
My wife did not pursue a personal career. What she did is take the opportunity we agreed upon that she would be a stay-at-home mother. That did not mean she would not work. In fact, I bet she has outworked most women who maintain careers.
First, my wife has been the perfect match for me. There is not enough time or room for me to elaborate on this here, but it is true.
Next, my wife gave us two amazing children. And, she loves them with a passion. They are both stable, married adults with children themselves now.
My wife effectively home-schooled our two children - two adults (now) that are bright, intelligent, well-adjusted individuals fully capable of any task they set their minds to. Their spouses are equally as amazing. Their children will likely change the world. Our children's abilities were enabled by my amazing wife.
Precious? That is not even the beginning!
There is no way of knowing just how important my wife has been in my spiritual growth. Frankly, I don't even like to think of what it might have been like without her.
All I can say is that one would have to search far and wide and still might not find a more accomplished woman than my wife. She has competently done more good for our family than I could ever have dreamed of doing. And what's more, she finds time and ability to do good for others. Her's is a success story indeed considering what she had to work with!
What about women's rights and equality? As far as I am concerned she has no equal so equality is not even an issue. And while on the topic, the highest 'right' any person can have is the ability to give rights (I will let the reader think about this one).
So, again, I can and I did find a virtuous and capable wife. Call me lucky - call me blessed - the truth is, I didn't and don't deserve the wife I have been with now almost 38 years. But I am not complaining!
Father, thank You for my precious wife.
