“What sorrow awaits my rebellious children,” says the LORD. “You make plans that are contrary to mine. You make alliances not directed by my Spirit, thus piling up your sins. For without consulting me, you have gone down to Egypt for help. You have put your trust in Pharaoh’s protection. You have tried to hide in his shade. But by trusting Pharaoh, you will be humiliated, and by depending on him, you will be disgraced. For though his power extends to Zoan and his officials have arrived in Hanes, all who trust in him will be ashamed. He will not help you. Instead, he will disgrace you.” [Isaiah 30.1-5]
Oh wow. God is serious about us seeking His kingdom first. I mean, I knew that, but this scripture today really puts it in perspective.
It seems that He is saying that anything we do without consulting Him first is where we make our mistake. I don't think He necessarily doesn't want us to seek help in other places, but He definitely doesn't want us to look elsewhere without His direction to do so FIRST! We need to be mindful - even careful - what we do FIRST!
Seeking God is best done in two ways: prayer and the Bible.
Father, I want to seek Your Kingdom first. I want to seek Your guidance first. I want to pray first. I want to be led by Your Word!
