I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart. Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. [Psalm 34.1-3]
Now this is resolve.
David is on the run from Saul. He is pretending to be insane in front of Abimelech so that he would not destroy him. And yet, in all these troubles, David remains focused on praising God. Resolve? Oh yes.
What do we learn from David here? ...To praise God constantly, ...to vocalize our praise of God, ...to give God credit for everything boast-worthy, ...that this is all done in a 'helpless' heart condition, ...to recognize the helplessness of others and enjoin them in exalting God with us.
Yes, David revealed a serious resolve here.
Father, I see David's commitment to You in Psalm 34. I am inspired to not only worship You in my trying times, but enjoin others in similar condition to do likewise.
