“Do what you think is best,” the armor bearer replied. “I’m with you completely, whatever you decide.” [1 Samuel 14.7]
Jonathan's armor bearer had the right attitude. He understood Jonathan's leadership. He evidently recognized something about Jonathan that compelled him to follow Jonathan faithfully.
There are two lessons in this little verse today.
- Am I willing to follow those I see clearly that the LORD has anointed to lead?
- Am I living a life that encourages others to follow me?
Both these life lessons are valuable. Both are necessary. Sometimes God has us follow, sometimes He has us lead. Whatever it is that God has anointed us to do however, we should do it!
Father, give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to understand both the followers and the leaders in our lives!
