Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, for the people I am driving out before you have defiled themselves in all these ways. Because the entire land has become defiled, I am punishing the people who live there. I will cause the land to vomit them out. [Leviticus 18.24-25]
"These ways" refers to sexual sins. Most of what is described in Leviticus 18 has to do with familial sexual relations, incest and the likes. However, verses 22 and 23 speak directly to homosexuality and bestiality. These were the ways of Canaan's occupants before Israel arrived. These ways were the reason God said their own land would "vomit them out."
What concerns me is that "these ways" sure seem familiar to the USA. Perhaps our county is not so bent on unchecked familial sexual relations (however in many circumstances, this perversion exists - albeit secretly), but it is certainly bent on homosexual relations. There is no doubt in my mind that bestiality is fast approaching just because Americans have become so pet-oriented, making pets out to be 'part of the family' and such. The USA is sex-sick.
In the USA's defense however, much of the world is also sex-sick. There are, in fact, other countries that may perhaps be more advanced in their sexual perversion. But that still doesn't make it okay for the USA.
Sexual perversion is not okay. Sexual perversion is pervasive. Sexual perversion is at the core of national (as well as personal) deterioration. Sexual perversion will cause nations to fall.
At least the Bible says so...
Father, I believe what the Bible says. I believe the says what You mean! I believe sexual sins are, by nature, the epitome of self-centeredness and, therefore, have nothing to do with You. Forgive us a nation. Forgive us as individuals. Forgive me for any tolerance at all in the area of sexual perversion.
