What God Thinks About Sickness And Disease

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Give the following instructions to Aaron: In all future generations, none of your descendants who has any defect will qualify to offer food to his God. No one who has a defect qualifies, whether he is blind, lame, disfigured, deformed, or has a broken foot or arm, or is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or has a defective eye, or skin sores or scabs, or damaged testicles. No descendant of Aaron who has a defect may approach the altar to present special gifts to the LORD. Since he has a defect, he may not approach the altar to offer food to his God. However, he may eat from the food offered to God, including the holy offerings and the most holy offerings. Yet because of his physical defect, he may not enter the room behind the inner curtain or approach the altar, for this would defile my holy places. I am the LORD who makes them holy.” [Leviticus 21.16-23]

If we really want to know what God thinks about sickness, disease, deformities or abnormalities, this passage of scripture tells us clearly.

Clearly, God will have none of these things in His presence.

Clearly, God resides in heaven.

Clearly, God would not co-exist in the Tabernacle with these things and He will not co-exist in Heaven with these things.

Clearly, God's intention to dwell in man on earth is manifested in these words: "May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6.10b - underline mine]

Wow. So, why will God not allow these things in His presence?

CLEARLY BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL RESULTS OF THE CURSE FOR DISOBEDIENCE (ref. Deuteronomy 28)!

We all need to absorb this thoroughly in our minds and in our spirits. We have allowed highly misunderstood and isolated scripture references to lead us to erroneous conclusions about God!

THINK! If God indeed desires fellowship with mankind (the whole of the Bible is explicitly clear to this end), why in the world would He put sickness and disease upon them thus disqualifying them from being in His presence? It is absurd to think God (truly the God of love and justice) would do that! And yet, a lot of mainstream religion teaches just that.

It is no wonder we live in such powerless existence as Christians - we don't genuinely know what we believe! Or worse, we believe (and teach) the exact opposite of what God intends for us to believe about Him!

The faith Jesus taught about moved mountains - it did not merely accept their imposing presence!

Father, help us to see the truth of You and Your character as displayed clearly in the entire Bible. Help us to stop just scratching our heads and shrugging our shoulders about confusing scriptures and see them in light of the Bible as a whole - in light of Your character on display cover to cover.
