But you, my dear friends, must remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ predicted. They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires. These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural instincts because they do not have God’s Spirit in them. [Jude 17-19]
It is as simple as this: if we are not operating by the leadership of the Holy Spirit, then we are only following our natural instinct. Our natural instinct is this: to satisfy their ungodly desires. These ungodly desires are what create divisions in the Body of Christ.
Hmm.
So, can we conclude that divisions among believers are directly related not listening to the Holy Spirit? I think so.
The implication of this - of avoiding self-pursuits - is monumental then for walking in unity with Jesus' Body, the Church.
Time for some mirror time!
Father, help me to remain mindful that divisions among us as believers are the direct result of not following Your Holy Spirit.
