After this, Jesus traveled around Galilee. He wanted to stay out of Judea, where the Jewish leaders were plotting his death. [John 7.1]
Today I sensed a rush of emotion as I read the verse above.
As I am becoming more familiar with the Bible - more familiar with Jesus through the testimony about Him - more intimate with God as His Spirit works in my life, I am finding myself attracted more and more to the life and ministry of Jesus.
Consequently, when I read this verse today, I felt a grief in my spirit. It was this hatred, evident in the Jewish leaders' intent to kill Jesus, that signaled the beginning of the end of Jesus' life and ministry on earth. It made me sad because I am finding myself hungry for more of Jesus and His teachings. I don't want it to end.
But it has to end because the best part of the story is yet to come.
That time in history had to end.
And, as good as this age of grace is, this time in history also has to end!
The best is yet to come!
I believe that heaven, the absolute fullness of the Kingdom of God, makes life as we know it on earth pale in comparison.
Even so, come Lord Jesus!
Father, I want to understand more about Jesus. Help me to learn all I can about Jesus' life on earth as it shows me how to live on earth. However, help me to remain conscious that the Kingdom is progressing and better things lie ahead with You in heaven!
