Everyone Needs To Repent

About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices at the Temple. “Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?” Jesus asked. “Is that why they suffered? Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.” [Luke 13.1-5]

Today's One Year Chronological Bible is full of material to discuss! For the passage above, I felt compelled to make some notes here.

It seems that Jesus is indicating that everyone needs to repent. It seems that any time we "judge" someone upon whom has fallen some terrible fate, we are in danger ourselves.

When we see misfortune and disaster occur on someone's life, it should be a call to repentance in our own.

How might our world change - even our own lives - if, when we see troubles elsewhere, that we ourselves repent?

Father, there is a lot I do not understand - that's obvious enough. But, help me to take to heart my need for repentance.
