God's Dilemma?

The LORD, the God of their ancestors, repeatedly sent his prophets to warn them, for he had compassion on his people and his Temple. But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. They scoffed at the prophets until the LORD’s anger could no longer be restrained and nothing could be done. [2 Chronicles 36.15-16]

Here we clearly see God's dilemma. He is love and He has justice.

It is a tough position people put God in when they sin. But, He is God and He can and will handle it!

Our sin angers the God Who loves us. We should really think this through.

God does not want to punish people! And, as much as God defends people (because of His love), He justly (albeit hesitantly) rewards sin.

This is where our repentance brings relief to God! Nothing brings Him more pleasure than for His people, in faith that He is and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, repent of their sin.

We should be so just as God, understanding that our sin requires punishment! However, faith allows us to realize His grace and His mercy. Faith is an obedience thing. Faith pleases God. Faith leads us to obedience and obedience leads us to faith. They work together.

Father, as scattered as my thoughts are today, I sense a great peace in You and Your love. Help me to further comprehend not only Your love, but also Your justice. Help me to appreciate even more the fact that You are love and have great justice.
