A Simple Lesson

And Samuel told him, “Although you may think little of yourself, are you not the leader of the tribes of Israel? The LORD has anointed you king of Israel. [1 Samuel 15.17]

This is interesting. Saul evidently had a low self esteem. According to Samuel, it would also seem that Saul's low self esteem led to his sin!

What?

Contrast to Jesus, Who never did anything except God's will and was bold and confident in every situation He ever encountered. Jesus had the audacity to call dead people to life and do great miracles because He understood His position. He understood His mission on earth to speak and do God's will on earth as it is in heaven.

Where does that leave us (those whom Jesus taught to pray to God "May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven...")?

The lesson here is simple.

Father, thank You for making me one of Your own through Jesus' work on my behalf. Help me today to consider what I have been "anointed" to do on earth as Your child - a sibling to Jesus.
