If a man’s testicles are crushed or his penis is cut off, he may not be admitted to the assembly of the LORD. [Deuteronomy 23.1]
It is not my intention to be gross here. It is however my intention to further confirm that God is not really in to deformities or sickness or disease.
On a side note, the question here comes to mind, "How would anyone even know if a man's male parts were damaged or missing?" This goes along with the question, "how would they know if a man was circumcised?"
The fact is, regardless of what some sects of modern Christian society claim, God does not ordain deformities or disease. In fact, abnormalities represent a defiled version of God's perfect creation. Sickness, disease, and the likes are resultant to the curse for disobedience (explained clearly in the Bible) and represent everything opposed to God.
To be clear, God accepts everyone regardless of physical condition. But, to further understand the Kingdom of God as evidenced by Jesus' life and ministry on earth, in compliment to Jesus' direction for pray for things "as they are in heaven," God intends that the full effect of His Kingdom on earth will alter the way things are on earth! That is exactly why there will be "no more tears or suffering" in heaven - God simply will not allow it. So, to say God accepts everyone regardless of physical condition is not altogether correct, is it? No more correct is it than to say God accepts everyone regardless of their sin! Yes, God accepts people as they are, but it is categorically opposed to His nature to leave them in that condition!
One might argue, "But I prayed for someone to be healed and they were not..." My question in return then is this, "Does that then relieve you of your responsibility to obey God?" No, it does not.
All I am saying here is that we are obligated to pray "heaven" on earth. We have no other standard. We represent no other kingdom. We work for no other god - be it modern medicine or advanced theology. We are Almighty Jehovah God's and He has told us how to pray. If we pray any other way, we are in open rebellion to Him!
What about the Apostle Paul? Did he not record that he asked the Lord multiple times to remove an infirmity? Yes, he did. And, he also wrote that God spoke to him saying "His grace was sufficient..." as if he should not ask again. But what if Paul was wrong? I am just saying, that Paul's experience does not line up with Jesus' instruction for pray (and continue to pray) for God's will on earth as it is in heaven. I am inclined to think God's response to Paul was that His grace continues to be extended to Paul whether his faith ever "moves the mountain" or not. Remember, Paul himself said that thorn was from Satan. And, that is precisely why Paul could take pleasure in his difficulties because he could also know that he was on mission from heaven to overcome them. In fact, the "mountains to move" are proof of employment for the Mountain Mover!
I am not trying to get all theological here - nothing about theology impresses me any more than just to understand what the Bible - God's story - is saying.
God's character, throughout the Bible is consistent. Man's character, again, throughout the Bible is not consistent! Moses goofed up, David goofed up, Peter goofed up.... all fantastic men of God. See the pattern?
God consistently defined His detestation of abnormalities. Jesus' told us to pray for God's will on earth "as it is in heaven" where abnormalities do not exist. Why else would Jesus heal the sick as He did? There is no other explanation!
May God help us to quit making up stupid religious excuses for not obeying Him!
Father, help us to pray according to Your will in heaven. We see here today, in today's One Year Chronological Bible reading once again, that You want nothing to do with abnormalities. Lord, the results are Your business - but praying as we have been taught is our duty.
