What Are We Waiting For?

So the whole community of Israel left Moses and returned to their tents. All whose hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings to the Lord. They brought all the materials needed for the Tabernacle, for the performance of its rituals, and for the sacred garments. Both men and women came, all whose hearts were willing. They brought to the Lord their offerings of gold—brooches, earrings, rings from their fingers, and necklaces. They presented gold objects of every kind as a special offering to the Lord. All those who owned the following items willingly brought them: blue, purple, and scarlet thread; fine linen and goat hair for cloth; and tanned ram skins and fine goatskin leather. And all who had silver and bronze objects gave them as a sacred offering to the Lord. And those who had acacia wood brought it for use in the project. [Exodus 35.20-24]

Check this out. These were transient people - people on the move. And yet, they had with them enough materials (and more) to construct the Tabernacle.

This brings up a point I made a few days ago also that the people were preparing for their exodus days in advance of the their actual departure. It was part of their preparation for the first Passover ceremony.

The significance of this fact is the lesson it provides for us on the topic of preparation. Israel was prepared for their deliverance and departure.

What are we waiting for today? What we are waiting for is revealed in what we are prepared for!

Let me repeat that lest it is overlooked: What we are waiting for is revealed in what we are prepared for!

Unfortunately, most of us are really prepared for nothing. This, in fact, reveals we are waiting for nothing. How sad is that - especially for a people who's God is the LORD, and to whom has been promised His Messiah's return to catch us away to heaven with Him?

If prayer is indeed "incense" stored in bowls in heaven to be poured out before the Father, then that is preparation. IF we are waiting for salvation, blessing, honor, glory, power, wisdom, strength, riches, and thanksgiving (the way things are in heaven), THEN, our prayers to that end are our preparation ("May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven...").

Prayer could be the greatest preparation a believer could participate in. I believe it is.

Father, help me to consider today what I am preparing for - as it reveals what I am waiting for.
