He Is God - I Am Not

I have prepared my case; I will be proved innocent. [Job 13.18]

This says a man who will be rebuked harshly by God.

No matter how much we know (or think we know) about God, ourselves, and life, it just makes sense to be guarded in our presentation of what we think. Such was certainly the case in the life of Job.

I know by experience that overconfidence can be the source of a great lesson about humility.

Herein lies an important Kingdom principle: God alone is God and no one will take issue with Him. This is a lesson Job revealed he had yet to learn. Maybe Job was, in fact, innocent, but it would seem in his innocence he became proud.

I wish I could put my finger on the point of the book of Job, but I cannot (so far). It is almost like the story's real point is found in it's ability to avert comprehension. While Job and his friends all make statements that sound solid, they also make statements that seem to cross the line.

For the life of me, I cannot seem to put an 'in a nutshell' synopsis together of the story. But what seems more and more my takeaway from Job is that I better keep myself in check as I learn more about God and walk closer to Him. No matter how close I get to God, He is still God and I am not.

Father, help me to understand that Your Kingdom indeed has a King - and that is You.
