The Need To Repent And The Privilege To Rejoice

Today's One Year Chronological Bible reading is about the crucifixion of Jesus.

There is nothing that really stands out to me more today than the fact that the sin for which Jesus suffered and died that day was mine.

One part of me believes it is unspeakable what happened to Jesus that day, and, therefore best left unspoken out of respect. However, another part of me can only rejoice that Jesus suffered this terrible agony on my behalf.

As I consider humanity and the fact that I am a part of it - the same humanity that crucified Jesus - I understand my participation in Jesus' crucifixion. I am compelled to understand it because, without having part in His crucifixion, I have no part in His resurrection.

So, two things seem important today: the need to repent and the privilege to rejoice.

Father, I want to have the right attitude of repentance and rejoicing before You today.
