While he was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told him, “Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.” But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.” [Mark 5.35-36]
When the noise of the world is telling us all that is wrong and all that is going to be wrong, we can be sure the voice of our Father - the voice of our God - spoken clearly and prophetically by Jesus - tells us, "Don't be afraid. Just have faith."
How many times are people told in the record of the Bible "Do not fear"?
It seems every time God is about to do something amazing, the words, "Do not fear," precede that event. Is there a pattern here? I think so.
I wonder then, if it is appropriate for us to speak and consider the words, "Do not fear," when faced with impossible situations? Again, I think so.
Father, as I face impossible situations, mine and other's, help me to remember and speak the words, "Do not fear." Let the words of my mouth bring faith and not fear.
