Consistency

Then this message came to Zechariah from the LORD: “This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other. [Zechariah 7.8-10]

This is not the only place in the Bible that offers the directions above as the will of God. I believe it is safe to conclude then that, if we do nothing else, we should focus on these things.

Consistency, in the Bible, is one thing we should always be on the lookout for. Character traits of God should always be watched for as well as mandates from God that are repeated throughout the scriptures. Here are definitely some of those mandates.

However, another thing we must not overlook in the process of being watchful for consistencies in the Bible, is the fact that we too should be consistent. Our consistency should be found in obedience. Every direction that we see consistently presented in the Bible should be a direction that we consistently follow!

Father, help me to consider Your consistencies and respond likewise with my own consistencies. However, I need Your help - Your Holy Spirit sent by Jesus - to help me be consistent.
