"Thus Says The LORD!"

Then this message came to me from the LORD: “Son of man, prophesy against the false prophets of Israel who are inventing their own prophecies. Say to them, ‘Listen to the word of the LORD. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: What sorrow awaits the false prophets who are following their own imaginations and have seen nothing at all!’ [Ezekiel 13.1-3]

It is a serious thing to say, "Thus says the LORD!"

It is critical that all people, and especially those in positions of authority, hear and see clearly when it comes to the things of God.

How easy is it to declare, "Thus says the LORD!" when, in reality, it is just something we want to happen personally?

We must pay attention to ourselves and those around us who declare, "Thus says the LORD!"

Father, I know I have felt confident in myself many times to say, "Thus says the LORD!" But I see here today how important it is to be absolutely certain I am representing You. The one saving grace is Your Word - as long as I represent Your Word, I can be sure of what You are saying. However, please guard me from my own interpretations of Your Word to fulfil selfish motives. (I know it happens)
